News December 2003

Dear Friends,
As we take time to celebrate the birth of Jesus this December, we also are celebrating all that God has done this year. Throughout the year we have witnessed God minister to scared and lonely girls and give them hope. With hope, women and girls have made decisions to give life to their unborn babies and receive Jesus as their personal Savior. Because of the support of caring people who gave to this ministry, babies are able to celebrate their first Christmas. With continued support, more babies will be born and more lives will be changed for eternity.

I am honored to share with you the following overview of how the Lord allowed me to see His Glory over the last nine months in the Pregnancy Support Center.

One night as I knelt in prayer I asked, "Lord, show me Your Glory?" Instantly, I recalled the face of a woman who smiled at me during a job/health fair. She said, "I came to your Center two years ago. I was homeless and pregnant and didn't know what to do. My counselor helped me a lot, and told me just what I could do. Now I have a two-year-old, a job, and I'm doing just fine." Other happy faces began to come to my memory, like the joyful mothers who came to show off their new babies, and the smiling faces of their counselors who held the infants and said, "That's my baby." I then remembered the beautiful face of a woman who said through tear-filled eyes that she would not have had an abortion had she known about us. We talked and I shared how God could free her from her shame and her pain. Her smile seemed to reflect hope and peace as she left. I pondered the memories of each fo these faces and suddenly became overwhelmed and humbled as I realized I had seen the face of God, and His Glory.

Now I think of the women and men we continue to serve and how many of these are afraid and feel alone in their dark situation of an unplanned pregnancy. They call our help line and our Center to ask about abortion, pregnancy, and adoption. One woman called and asked for information on adoption. I could hear pain in her voice as she said, "I can't afford another child." I asked her if I could pray for her and afterward she made an appointment and said, "Thank you, and God bless you." Tonight a woman called and made an appointment for a pregnancy test for her young teenage cousin. We pray every morning that God will anoint us to do His work and that He will change the hearts, minds, and lives of the women who enter our doors. Many of them come alone, or with a partner, friend, or family member. One morning a mother brought her daughter for a pregnancy test and we were moved to pray a second time for the Lord to intervene. After the counseling session they left with one brochure entitled "What Does God Say About Abortion?"

Brothers and sisters, your gifts and efforts helped pay for that one brochure, that one pregnancy test, and that one counseling session which may have saved that baby's life and that family from a life of deep regret and painful consequences. You are making a difference. That is why you also can say "That's my baby!" Thank you for helping us show these children of God the loving face of Jesus, and for letting us see His Glory in their faces too. Jesus said, "...whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine you did for me." Matthew 25:40

This Christmas as you look into the face of Jesus, the Gift of Life, I would like to invite you to celebrate the lives that were saved and changed at the Pregnancy Support Center this year. We have accomplished so much in the Center and in the community this year, but we need your prayers and help to continue. Please pray thoughtfully how you can help. We have a significant need for financial gifts, day volunteer counselors, helpline counselors, board members, speakers, and a larger building. God is also calling us to broaden our services with an "Earn While You Learn" program and store for the mothers, a sexual integrity program for our schools, colleges, Fort Lee, and church youth groups, and to add medical services with hopefully a 4D ultrasound machine. We need your help to make this vision a reality. We appreciate so very much your gift of love and support!

May the Lord continue to bless you othis Christmas season and throughout the coming year,
Peggy, Executive Director
